Sage represents the ability to use spell runes. Odin, Thor, Tyr and Freya represent your ability to cast spells related to each god. As an Einherjor, you already have 1 in Odin. Character creation allows you to increase your characteristics. Be aware that warrior and sage will increase with use, but god abilities will never change (though some amulets and shields grant you 1 point in the relevant ability when worn). I rarely used spells in this game other than light and heal. A high warrior ability will allow you to carry more items and fight better. So my advice would be to greatly raise warrior skill and Freya favor and moderately raise sage skill.
