The Island of Dr. Brain combines adventure-game exploration with a generous collection of educational puzzles, all wrapped in a colorful setting inspired by the classic mad-scientist tradition. You arrive on an island belonging to the eccentric Dr. Brain and soon discover that solving problems is considerably more important than waving a sword around. Logic, mathematics, memory, spatial reasoning, and pattern recognition all get their turn, with puzzles generally presented in a friendly and accessible fashion. The game manages to make learning feel less like homework and more like rummaging around inside a wonderfully strange laboratory. Its humor and presentation help soften the educational angle, while the variety prevents the experience from becoming repetitive. It may not have the explosive action of a conventional adventure, but there is something satisfying about exercising your brain instead. Just remember: on this island, the dangerous monster is probably a badly designed puzzle.
