Cirque de Zale is a point-and-click adventure game released in 2004, developed by Rebecca Clements as a freeware title. Created using the Adventure Game Studio (AGS) engine, the game is heavily inspired by classic LucasArts adventure games like Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle. The game follows Zale, a snarky and reluctant young man who is tricked into becoming the leader of a circus troupe. After a misunderstanding with a wizard, Zale ends up at a circus filled with oddball characters, and he must solve various puzzles to escape and save the day.

Cirque de Zale review
GameHippo (2005): "The biggest flaws of Cirque de Zale are two: it's very short, and easy. While I like adventure games a lot, I've always been a mediocre solver; and I finished this one with no help needed. The puzzles, while humorous and "unrealistic" as mentioned above, are far from challenging. The Push and Pull verbs are present, but you'll never get a chance to use them. Longevity is not expected to be more than a few hours. The game, however, deserves to be played. It feels like the author had a lot of fun making it, and the same fun is transmitted to the player. You probably won't leave it until you reach the end - pity that it could happen the same day you downloaded the file."
