Based on the legendary Argentine comic, L'Eternauta: Gli Invasori della Città Eterna (1994) is bleak, atmospheric, and proudly uninterested in holding your hand. Set in a snow-covered Rome under alien invasion, the game leans heavily into narrative and mood, mixing adventure elements with moments of tactical tension. The graphics are modest, but the oppressive sense of dread comes through clearly: every street feels dangerous, every encounter uncertain. There’s a thoughtful, almost literary pace to the storytelling, which might frustrate action-hungry players but will delight those who enjoy slow-burning sci-fi. A bit clunky in places, yes, but also ambitious and unusual for its time. It’s the kind of game that sticks with you, not because it’s fun in a conventional way, but because it dares to be somber and strange.
