Chess was a niche genre in video gaming. There were lots of chess simulations: black and white very old games, licensed games from chess champions, etc. No one ever attempted to broaden the audience until Interplay published Battle Chess. Battle Chess appeal was almost entirely focused on the animations when two pieces ended on the same square.

Battle Master is a fantasy themed abandoned action-strategy game hybrid (with real-time tactics elements) developed by Personal Software Services. Battle Master was released by Mirrorsoft in 1991 for DOS, Amiga and Atari ST and Genesis.

BC Racers is a DOS unconventional (to say the least) racing game that features a prehistoric theme, designed by Martin Gibbons, developed and published by Core Design in 1955. It's the third game in the Chuck Rock series, the first two being platformers not available for PC.
